Hi there. When I looked at the date of my last post which was May 2nd, I found it hard to believe that it has been 3 weeks. I think in the 4 year history of The Greenhouse Effect that this has been the longest stretch between entries. Even being sick or just plain busy never stopped me from posting at least once a week or every 10 days.
Back to business. Leading off a horse named, I'll Have Another. Two great runs to victory in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. Bodemeister is quickly becoming known as the greatest pace setter in history. Mike Smith is an amazing jockey, but I have question the pace that Bodemeister ran in both races. In Derby, he was going way too fast and the horse ran out of gas. In the Preakness, the horse ran slower split times than in the Derby, but didn't put it in high gear as he made his way around the far turn into the home stretch. With the shorter distance, the pace Bodemeister set in the Derby would have won him the Preakness. Mario Gutierrez rode I'll Have Another perfectly. Keeping him within striking distance and out of traffic and then just at the right moment getting the horse to break in high gear. Don't start speculating about winning the Triple Crown. We horse racing fans are desparate for one since Affirmed last did it in 1978.
By now the big move to our new home at 238 Bay Road in Queensbury has happened. So you think moving to a new home is hard? Try moving 3 radio stations. Having to co-ordinate studio moves with minimal down time is like trying to choreograph a ballet. Then there's all the satellite equipment, processing, and of course the furniture and workstations. There's still more stuff to be brought over and put away in new spots. It has been a one hell of a crazy week. The two guys who have gotten the worst of it are Jim Scott and Alan Doane, who's studios are still under construction. Alan is doing the best production he can in a temporary spot and Jim's news room is about 75 percent done. He should be able to broadcast Tuesday if everything lines up perfectly for our engineer to finish everything.
I wonder if the Las Vegas odds makers had a line on which Los Angeles sports team would make it to finals. The odds on favorite would have been the Lakers, right? Well the guy who put his money on the Kings will be a very wealthy man barring a monumental collapse.
Rangers/Devils in the Eastern Conference semi's. Doesn't get any better than that. Gary Bettman is thanking the hockey gods for that one. He's even begging the media to leave Coach Torts alone and let Devils coach Peter DeBoer do all the talking.
Even the most hardcore, passionate baseball fan had no idea that this years' All-Star game was being played in Kansas City at Kaufman Stadium. It has been nearly 30 years since the Royals were the slightest bit relevant.

I didn't watch, but saw some of the sketches Eli Manning did as host of Saturday Night Live. The cross dressing thing gave me the creeps. The best sketch hands down was the public service parody, "Little Brothers." That maniacal laugh at the end was downright hilarious and scary at the same time. Never thought Eli would do something like that.
On the local front, a woman in Saratoga County walked into a Curtis Lumber store and a Stewarts shop in the Ballston Spa area naked within minutes of each other. The woman claimed she was merely expressing her freedom to be fully liberated by walking nude into those places. What's even better was mental health checked her out and found no psychiatric issues whatsoever. This is one case where I would have sought a second opinion.
Both the How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory season finales were in two words, disappointing and lame.

Is it O.K. for this Mets fan to buy some of the cool Red Sox ice cream novelties that are made by Hood that you can find in local grocery stores? If I was a Yankee fan it would be considered a violation of being a Yankee fan. Buying any food product with Red Sox on the label. I've noticed there are never any cool food products that say, "Mets" on it. It's always Yankees or Red Sox. Now I know how Jets fans feel. LMAO.
Finally, if I have to see underside of one more counter top to either to take down or set up and plug in equipment, I think I'm going to runaway to Flushing and watch the Mets play at CitiField with my seats in the Pepsi Porch. It will have driven me that crazy to do something like that...Leccese out.

Where's my May basket?
Hi there. Well here it is May and right now I'm so far behind. The weather has set me back a few weeks in getting the garden ready. Need to borrow Dave Thomas' mantis tiller. Buy the endless bags of soil enrichers, a.k.a cow manure and get the beds ready for tomatoes, beans, and squash. Also have to buy a couple of bags of container soil for my potato bags. The other thing is the hardening process in which you take the seedlings that you started and have growing inside and gradually get them used to being outside before you put them in the ground. Got lettuce seeds sown in the ground and my Earthboxes are ready for the eggplant and peppers to go in them.
The other thing I'm behind on is my golf game. Haven't picked up a club yet.
Another level of hell must have frozen over when the both Grizzlies and the Clippers make the NBA playoffs in the same year.
When they said hit the glass hard Amare Stoudemire, they meant rebounding the basketball, not punching your hand through a fire extinguisher door.
It must be pretty good to be a sports fan in Los Angeles these days. The Lakers and Clippers both have good chances to advance to the second round of the Association playoffs. The Dodgers with former Yankee Don Mattingly managing them are off to a great start (Matt Kemp is a stud!); and the cherry on top of the sundae is the Kings knocking off the Canucks in round one of the Stanley Cup play-offs and are up 2-0 on the Blues. The Kings haven't made that much of a play-off noise since Wayne Gretzky played for them and Barry Melrose was behind the bench.
In last Sunday's NY Daily News, Mike Lupica wrote this observation about Rangers coach John Tortorella. "This is going to sound crazy, but there are days when the Dale Carnegie courses really don’t seem to be taking with John Tortorella."
My folks are back from their trip to China. Had a very nice time on their 3 city tour. Unfortunately for me and my brother in law, they couldn't find any cool personal electronic devices. On a positive note, I don't have an Asian bride to get married to. That's what they plan to bring back for me when they visit Italy. LOL.
Am I feeling alright? I haven't ripped CitiField in whole month. I must be slipping.
I don't what is uglier. The new logo of the re-branded Brooklyn (formally New Jersey) Nets or the new unis that Nike designed for Rutgers. At least they're better looking then the ones that Nike are outfitting the Seahawks in. Talk about double bag ugly!
So this girl took a Tim Tebow cut out type advertising display to her prom. She walked in the procession with it. It would have been really funny if the cut out had been named prom king. I wish I was that smart or creative in high school. I could have done that with a Cathy Ireland or Carol Alt type display. FYI-I graduated high school in 1984.
One NFL draft note. Some idiot got hold of Mohamed Sanu's phone number and played a not so nice prank on him by calling him up during the first round and saying the Bengals were going to draft him with the 27th pick. He thought something was up when he saw the actual pick and it wasn't him. The irony in all this is the Bengals drafted him in the third round.
Junior Seau was one heck of linebacker for the Chargers and Patriots. Sad to hear about his passing and how it happened. He was only 3 years younger than me.
I occasionally listen to Dennis Miller's syndicated talk show which can be heard on Talk 1450 WWSC weekday mornings at 10am (that's a shameless plug). Some of his references make me feel really dumb at times.
So we're on the verge of leaving our soon to be old home at 128 Glen Street for the very nice nearly completed new digs on Bay Road. The new place is beautiful. However, there's one thing I really don't like about it. Too many windows! I prefer to have my studio be a cross between a maximum security prison and those military command centers that they build deep inside a mountain. If I wanted to be seen, I would have become a sportscaster on television. Can I make a suggestion? Would it be possible to install some vertical and horizontal blinds for some extra privacy? I didn't think so...Leccese out.

I think it's about time for a new entry
Hi there. So how do spend a rainy cold Monday morning before you head out to take your fitness class? By writing a new entry in which is 3 days late that's how. Lots to talk about so lets started.
First off the I'm proud to announce the sequel to the Morning Club Christmas Carol, 11 years after we made the original. Sorry, Pete did not lose another bet to Rick Davidson. It was suggested last Christmas that we re-do the original. Since I wrote the it, I thought a sequel would be better. We'll also be doing one of those, "VH1 goes behind the Music of The Morning Club Christmas Carol" type shows which I think will be really funny. The working title is, "The Morning Club Christmas Carol in 3-D."
Phantoms season is over and what started out with such great promise and optimism, ended up like the other two seasons. No play-offs. Glens Falls is so desperate for play-off hockey. The Wings spoiled us for so long. The Phantoms have one more year before they head to Allentown PA and they better work hard to convince the fans here that it will be worth coming to games. I'm not seeing a potential Calder Cup winner headed our way.
I love golfer Carl Pettersson who credited beer and ice cream for his improved performance. He tried the healthier lifestyle of working out, counting calories and other things like that. Moderation is the key to everything. It's O.K. to enjoy the occasional fast food meal, candy bar, adult beverage or treat. The problem is eating the stuff everyday which do to convenience and other factors like people not liking to cook has added to the obesity epidemic along with the the lazy lifestyle we seem to lead as well.
Here's what makes the NHL play-offs better than the NBA play-offs. The 16 teams who make the NHL play-offs have a better shot at winning the whole thing than the 16 teams in the NBA play-offs do. A hot goaltender can change the dynamics of a series. Look at Braydon Holtby and Craig Anderson. Were the Kings that much better than the Canucks? Jonathan Quick outplayed the Canucks duo in net. The Penguins/Flyers series was just plain strange.
If the Rangers lose to the Senators, I'm gonna start rooting for the Panthers only cause Kevin Dineen is their head coach.
After this season before he has to deal with Don Fehr destroying another sport with Collective Bargaining Agreement talks, NHL commish Gary Bettman should fire Brendan Shanahan as its so called, "Dean of Discipline." I won't go into my feelings towards that intellectually challenged dumb a--.
Sorry to hear that the Lingerie Football League is going on hiatus. Cloutier is devastated. He needs a hug REAL BAD.
So last week the exterminator comes to my home and sprays the outside of the place. He asks if I was having problems inside. No I reply. Well a day later there were ants in my bathroom around the tub and shower fixtures of all places!
Garden update for you. It took six weeks, but one of the Bhut Jolokia a.k.a, "The Ghost Chile" pepper seeds finally sprouted! Tomato, eggplant, pepper, parsley and basil seedlings looking good. I had hoped to start lettuce seeds on the patio, but the weather changed my plans and I did get the delivery of the patio blueberry bush I ordered so that's good to go.
Kim Kardashian's rebound guy from her divorce is Kanye West? Kris Humphries must be really devastated over that one. You get dumped for that nut case? Wait a minute, they're perfect for each other. What would be really funny if Kanye found out that Kimmy's BFF was Taylor Swift.
Eli Manning is hosting Saturday Night Live in two weeks May 5th. You're kidding right? You're not.
Jet DB Antonio Cromartie and his wife had another child. Congratulations. If you've lost count, that's now 10 kids from 8 different women living in 6 states for Mr.Cromartie. I think the Jets should offer their DB a contract incentive to have a vasectomy to help pay for all the child support or have that new back up quarterback they acquired from the Broncos named Tim Tebow council him on the values of abstinence. One of the condom companies should hire him as spokesman.
You know you're getting old when you see the prom pictures of your friends kids who you've known since birth.
Saturday night got the call from Bejing China where the parents are on vacation. 12 hour time difference so it was Sunday morning for them. Don't forget my souvenir. Little hint dad and mom. Personal Electronic Device like a tablet or one of those kindle things that you can read books on.
Finally, heading to the dentist Thursday morning for round two of fixing my mouth. This one will be much more painful since I will be awake for this bout and getting a cleaning which I'm dreading. Still haven't golfed yet...Leccese out.

Some people get chocolate in their Easter basket, I got honey
Hi there. Hope everyone had a nice Easter. If you look at the title of this weeks entry, I indeed got honey in my Easter basket instead of chocolate. The 4 pack of Reese's peanut butter cups don't count, LOL. Not just any honey, but being the foodie/gourmet snob that I've become it was a local honey from South Carolina that is produced not far from the southern fortress of solitude on Fripp Island. Good stuff, especially the Sweet Melon. I've ordered it online and had it mailed here.
Really not a lot to talk about these past 2 weeks. Nothing that has said, "You've got to be kidding me!"
First the Masters. I know getting a hole in one is tough, but a double eagle! How do you react to that? Stunned disbelief is my guess. Bubba Watson made an incredible shot on that second play-off hole and deserved to win. So Eldrick (a.k.a Tiger) Woods threw a little temper tantrum after a bad shot. We've all done it once. He said he wanted to connect with his fans better and there's no better way than acting like us duffers by kicking a club. I've seen worse.
O.K. its time to play, "You make the call!" Who was the bigger dumb a--. Ozzie Guillen for his comments about the Cuban dictator who he has admitted to admire on more than one occasion (when you coach in Miami its not good to alienate your fan base, many of whom escaped that dictator's tyranny that way) or former Arkansas football coach Bobby Petrino who went on a little motorcycle ride without a helmet and with a 25 year old female who he was cheating on his wife with and had an accident. He also lied to his AD about who she was.
Every once in a while even the Mets don't screw something up and the opening day tribute to the late Gary Carter was one of those times. It was even more special to have his wife and kids throw out the first pitch.
It figures. One of my two secret crushes, Sofia Vergara guest hosts Saturday Night Live last weekend and I go to bed at 10pm. Why do I always miss the good stuff like that? Total bummer.
No politician male or female should make any comments denouncing stay at home Moms. My Dad wouldn't be half the success he was if it wasn't for my Mom watching me and my sister and taking care of all the other stuff so he wouldn't be distracted. She also does a nice a job picking out his clothes.
The garden is looking good. Hopefully next week I'll get the salad mix seeds planted outside and start the process of doing the raised beds and getting my patio ready for another addition. Some people grow a tomato plant or herbs on their patio. Me, I grow eggplant, peppers, lettuce, potatoes (you read right, potatoes!) and this year a compact blueberry bush that I saw in the coupon insert you get in the Sunday paper. Yet there is still plenty of room for a few chairs and my barbecue grill.
With the PGA Tour in Hilton Head SC this weekend, the urge to start playing golf has officially begun. I might just clean the clubs and swing them a few times just to get ready. Head to the driving range, hit a few ball and get loose and be course ready. Enjoy the weekend...Leccese out.

Don't forget my Russell Stover coconut nests, Easter Bunny!
Hi there. So here we are on the eve of another Easter and my thoughts turn to my childhood growing up with pet rabbits. I used tell my sisters' little friends that the reason we got them was that we were chosen by the Easter Bunny to take care of his helpers. My best friend growing up Ricky DiBiase would also be in on the joke.
On to other things. The first one comes from WFAN's Tony Paige when he said. It's an annual right of Spring. Birds chirping, Major League Baseball's regular season is starting, and Keith Olbermann gets fired again. Funny stuff.
Last week I talked about how I wanted the total package when it comes to meeting a female companion. Looks and the intelligence to go with them. Well Kate Winslet just jumped a few spots higher up on my list with her revelation that when she hears the theme from Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On" it makes her feel like throwing up and that she hates the song. I couldn't agree more, but any Celine Dion song makes me want head to the porcelain throne and drop my head in and let it all come out.
Since I don't watch award shows and I don't like country music, I didn't catch it, but did they really perform a live wedding ceremony during the ACM Awards Sunday night and did Martina McBride and Pat Monahan from Train really perform a duet of the Train song, "Marry Me"?
Normally that would have made "This Weeks sign of the Apocalypse!" but we've got not one but two of them this week. The first comes from a visit to a local drug store where on the shelf that had "The stuff that you see on tv infomercials" comes the "Justin Beiber singing toothbrush!" A must for all teenage girls everywhere. The second comes from my friend Ann Marie who posted a photo of this stuff she saw in a local dollar store. Larry the Cable Guy food products! Mac and cheese, hamburger helper type complete dinners and even some fried or baked chicken coating product. First he hosts a show on the History Channel and now his own line of food products. I don't care what anybody says, that's funny stuff! Git R done!
So Kentucky wins the NCAA Men's basketball championship and they riot in the streets of Lexington after the victory. Can you imagine what it would have been like if the Wildcats had lost?! I'm thinking Vancouver after the Canucks lost to the Bruins in last years' Stanley Cup final or what those soccer hooligans over in England do after a loss in any international competition.
It's time to get behind a really good hockey team folks. The Union College Dutchmen who will making their first ever appearance in the Frozen Four Thursday at that hockey hotbed known as Tampa Florida!
I watched one the Yankees/Marlins exhibition game played at the new ballpark in Miami and it makes me even more depressed that for 600 million dollars they were able to build a modern looking, retractable roof stadium, while for 700 million my Mets built CitiField. Opening day is 2 days away and I'm in mid season CitiField hating form already.
Had a Belgian Tripel at Davidson's Sunday with some friends from Core. I was in a very happy place sipping my favorite beer that afternoon.

On to other things. The first one comes from WFAN's Tony Paige when he said. It's an annual right of Spring. Birds chirping, Major League Baseball's regular season is starting, and Keith Olbermann gets fired again. Funny stuff.
Last week I talked about how I wanted the total package when it comes to meeting a female companion. Looks and the intelligence to go with them. Well Kate Winslet just jumped a few spots higher up on my list with her revelation that when she hears the theme from Titanic, "My Heart Will Go On" it makes her feel like throwing up and that she hates the song. I couldn't agree more, but any Celine Dion song makes me want head to the porcelain throne and drop my head in and let it all come out.
Since I don't watch award shows and I don't like country music, I didn't catch it, but did they really perform a live wedding ceremony during the ACM Awards Sunday night and did Martina McBride and Pat Monahan from Train really perform a duet of the Train song, "Marry Me"?
Normally that would have made "This Weeks sign of the Apocalypse!" but we've got not one but two of them this week. The first comes from a visit to a local drug store where on the shelf that had "The stuff that you see on tv infomercials" comes the "Justin Beiber singing toothbrush!" A must for all teenage girls everywhere. The second comes from my friend Ann Marie who posted a photo of this stuff she saw in a local dollar store. Larry the Cable Guy food products! Mac and cheese, hamburger helper type complete dinners and even some fried or baked chicken coating product. First he hosts a show on the History Channel and now his own line of food products. I don't care what anybody says, that's funny stuff! Git R done!

You knew the warm weather wouldn't last, didn't you?
Hi there. Honestly, did you think that those 70's and near 80's were gonna last? One of the things about being a gardener in this area is expect the unexpected. Trust me, I was tempted by the siren's call of this recent warm weather to start the lettuce seeds outside, but I knew better. It can wait another 3 to 4 weeks.
Ohio State, Kentucky, Louisville, and Kansas. Not a bad Final Four group if you ask me. Of the four elite eight games, I watched parts of two that were played on Saturday. The one that intrigued me the most was the Louisville/Florida game and how 25 years ago a then up and coming coach by the name of Rick Pitino took the Providence Friars who had a guard by the name of Billy Donovan on an amazing run to the Final Four. Teacher coaching against one of his grown up pupils. I loved that Providence team and the way they played defense and made three pointers. What people forget is that it was such a rough time personally for Pitino and his family. He had a son named Daniel die as an infant during that stretch and coaching that team was his way to get away from that agony and sadness.
So Tim Tebow is a Jet. Here's my take on it. Can he help them win? I think so. He'll sell a lot of jerseys, t-shirts and other Jets apparel. The past 2 years and change the Jets have been making headlines with the brashness of Rex Ryan, the trips to the AFC championship games and other statements about the new stadium in the Meadowlands being theirs. So what happened? The worst possible thing. The Giants quietly made a statement by winning a play-off game at home after putting up so many stinkers in the new stadium and going on another road run finishing it off by beating Brady and Belichick a second time in 5 years for another Super Bowl title.
I don't what is making me more uneasy as the hockey playoffs approach. The Phantoms not making the playoffs for the third straight year; or the way the Pittsburgh Penguins have been chasing down and creeping ever so closer and closer to the Rangers for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. If Sidney Crosby keeps getting healthier, better watch out. The Pens will be awfully tough to beat.
Kind of sad this morning. Heard about the passing of a great author as well as a boxing and sports historian, Bert Sugar. He was one of those old school guys who you could listen talk for hours on end. His voice, trademark fedora hat and cigar. Gonna miss him. He left us too soon.
As a public service announcement, since March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness month, I declare it is not my fantasy to join Ozzy Osbourne on a trip to New York to get a colonoscopy! Between the radio and tv promos on CBS owned media properties, I will be glad when March ends this Saturday.
Love this story. A kid from Tartan High School in Oakdale Minnesota got creative when it came to finding a date for his senior prom. He sent out tweets to adult film stars asking if they would like to go with him. 2 said yes, but the school board said no. Which is fine and I understand their concerns, which were legit. However I get the impression that none of the school board members had seen the teen movie, "The Girl Next Door." Funny movie that can be a guilty pleasure every now and then.
So a recent dating survey found that 50 percent of men would choose looks over intelligence when it came to going out with a woman. That same survey also revealed that 80 percent of men are intimidated by smart women. I want both. You know Sofia Vergara looks with Megyn Kelly smarts rolled into one nice package.
Finally a big thanks from the bottom of my heart to everyone who supported me, Mike and Jason for Bowl for Kids Sake with a donation. I love to bowl. I'll watch the PBA tour on Bristol Tech; and any time I can use my mediocre athletic abilities to raise funds for a good cause, I'm in. The same goes for the occasional charity golf tournament that you'll see me at. By the way, they raised over 83 thousand dollars this year!...Happy Birthday Dr.Stevens. You're a treasured friend to this gym freak...Leccese out.

Random thoughts on this first day of Spring
Hi there. So here we are enjoying the end of a relatively mild winter with mid 70's and low 80's temperatures for the first few days of spring. Why do I have this uneasy feeling that either April, May or June will end up with below average temperatures and nothing but rain and clouds.
I haven't been tempted to play golf or even think about planting lettuce yet. I just started my eggplant and pepper seeds inside and in another week of two I figure out what tomatoes will make the cut. I already know at least 3 that have. It's the other 3 that are undecided plus of course 1 or 2 more from different sources that find their way into the mix so I'll have the usual 8 tomato plants. Trust me, I have plenty of friends here at the radio station and at Core who will gladly take the extras off my hands come harvest time.LOL.
On to other things. I tune into the Devils/Rangers game last night and the first three seconds brought back memories of the Icehawks with that line brawl that occured as soon as the puck dropped.
By now you know I'm a fan of How I Met You Mother, well I think its time to end the show. It's reached its "Jump the Shark" episode point. Please tell us who she is and then show Bob Saget finishing the narration to end it all.
Rosie O'Donnell's new talk show got cancelled? I didn't even know she was back on tv in the first place. I guess I didn't miss much, huh?
This weeks sign of the apocalyse is a four way tie between ABC who wants to make Home Alone 5! Mike Tyson who wants bring his one person show to Broadway; (Mike Tyson is doing theater?) The fact that another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie is in the works; and that a movie is also in the works based on the Garbage Patch Kids trading cards.
Mets' ownership settled up with the trustee of the victims of the Bernie Madoff ponzi scheme and will only have to pony up about 162 million dollars. I actually like Fred Wilpon and his not so bright son Jeff. They seem like nice folks, but they built Citi Field and you know how much I love that place...NOT! Oops, had a sarcasm lapse again. Sorry about that.
As for the NCAA's, it had some great drama and some nice early round stories. Look we all loved the wins by Lehigh and Norfolk State allthough it screwed up many a persons brackets.
I just don't get why all the courts at the arenas where they are playing the games now look the same. Sort of boring if you ask me.
Congrats to Union College for winning the ECAC hockey championship last weekend.
O.K. so I decide to wear dress shoes instead of sneakers to the office today and people think something is up? At least I didn't wear white socks. I knew better.
