Sweet Sixteen and catching up

Hi There. A lot has been going on and besides being sick with some stupid cold/flu/cough/ sore throat and now congestion crud, I apologize for not writing sooner. So much for drinking 3 cups of green tea a day and taking vitamins to strengthen your immune system. Anti-oxidants my butt.
First off this will be the last mention of Erin Andrews. Her stalker/perv was convicted and got only 30 months for his photographing her naked through the hotel room peephole. Got to love our justice system. See you on the sideline blondie.
The Giants and Jets recently had a blood feud over who gets to play the first regular season game in the new 1.6 ba ba billion dollar PSL'd, Luxury Boxed yet to be named stadium they'll share and split the cost of building in the swamp. NFL Commish Roger Goodell settled it with a secret coin toss, the Giants won and the Jets cried foul. I personally think that Woody Johnson and John Mara should have gone to the spot in Weehawken and re-enacted the Aaron Burr/Alexander Hamilton duel to decide it. If the Jets were so sick of playing in the Giants shadow at Giants Stadium, how come they have never been mentioned in the "What teams would be the perfect fit to return pro football to Los Angeles" conversation? The talk has always been about the Vikings, Saints, Jaguars, and Buffalo Bills.
Who came up with the new overtime idea for the playoffs? The same geniuses who came up with the BCS and RPI formula's.
I wish someone would tell me how come it costs so much to build new stadiums in the NJ/NY Metro area compared to other places. I'm still not getting it. 1.6 billion for the football stadium. Rutgers football stadium expansion costs 103 million for only 12 thousand seats. The soccer team (yeah here's a token soccer mention) built a 25 thousand seat place (it looks kind of cool too) for 200 million. MSG will be renovated for about what it cost to build that place that I don't mention by name where the Mets play.
Now for the NCAA's. When can we stop calling Gonzaga, Butler, Northern Iowa, and other darling mid major programs Cinderella and let them be known for what really they are. Well coached, fundamentally sound, really good basketball teams. I filled out 2 brackets this year and in one bracket I have 2 teams in my final 4 left and in the other 3 teams. Cornell is no fluke by the way. They are a good basketball team. Coach Cal and Kentucky should be scared of that club. Yo, NCAA we don't need 96 teams in the tournament. If you want to expand, go to 68 with a play in game for each region.
If you love a really good grilled deli sandwich, try the Fireman at Sully's East on Maple Street. Corned Beef, pastrami, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing on Villa bread. I like mine minus the Russian dressing. I tried making one at home and I've discovered that the Villa bread makes a difference. I'm not a big cold cuts, deli kind of guy, but that sandwich is scary good and delicious at the same time.
While I was at my local grocery store deli buying some corned beef and pastrami, I saw something straight out of Bizarre Foods. It was called Mac and Cheese loaf. I'm not kidding you on this one. I had an Andrew Zimmern epiphany and bought a small amount, like a 1/4 pound of the stuff. It was this combination of bologna with like mac and cheese bits in it. Not for the faint of heart. Maybe if I had tried it the Bourdain way with copious amounts of alcohol, would it have tasted better? Not a chance. The smell was awful too. Could have caused paint to peel off walls.
I saw this new show on the Travel Channel and I have to tell Miner, Dubray and Mark Griffin about this one. It's called, "America's Worst Drivers." Dan, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Yep, let's nominate Cloutier as a potential show contestant.
I had to go to jury duty. The judge seemed like a nice guy, but I have to disagree with him when he said to us potential jurors that serving on a jury is one of the most honorable things you could do. Here's my take on jury duty and I'll make my point in a nice, civilized, intelligent way. It's like military service. Totally voluntary. You want to serve in the military or on a jury? Go for it. I have no desire to do either. Call me un American. I've heard that one before.
Once again had a great time at Bowl For Kids Sake. Next to the go-cart race, its my favorite thing we do for charity here at the radio station. It's nice to see Mr.Davidson back in the fold as a friend of the radio station.
Time is running out and would it be possible for at least one member of the Phantoms to win either the player of the week or the goaltender of the week honors in the AHL before the season ends. By the way I've decided to only renew 1 season ticket for next year. Trying to save money for that new car and to be honest with you, there's nothing out there that I find appealing enough that I would buy.
Saw "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" on HBO last weekend. Funny movie. It reinforced why Michael Douglas is one of my favorite male actors.
If anyone knows Sandra Bullock pass this message on to her. I'm more than willing and able to make myself available if she needs someone to console her in regards to the revelation that her husband Jesse James joined the Tiger Woods club.
Don't forget the Prospect Child and Family Center telethon is this weekend. Enjoy the weekend...Leccese out.

Siena is a 13 seed? You're kidding me, right?

Hi there. Very rarely do I say this because I'm a glass is half empty who is angry and wants to know why its not completely full kind of guy. However this past weekend I was actually happy and it was good to be me for a change.
We'll go more in depth with bracketology later in the week. I have to wonder what the heck was the committee thinking when it made Siena a 13 seed? It deserved better. It did get a good draw with Purdue who is without its best player in the first round. Also, who in their sick twisted mind came up with the Temple/Cornell first round match up?
I know everyone wants to know what Friday night was like for me at Fort Edward High School and the March Mayhem wrestling event. It was an amazing, surreal experience! First off, I want to thank Mike, Kurt, and all the other wrestling performers for allowing me to be a part of the show. Jim Duggan, I can't thank you enough for your kindness and the fun I had playing your manager that night. You made it so easy and to get to see up close what goes into what you do. The average person or fan doesn't know the effort it takes. Also Jim, thanks for autographing the 2 by 4 which is going to be a part of our Operation Santa Claus charity auction in December. I told Dan that I thought this is the best item I've gotten as a donation to our auctions. Yes Virginia, it has officially topped the Hanson brothers autographed "Sports Illustrated" from a couple of years ago. Angelina seemed nice. We said hello to each other in passing and that was it. The airline lost her lost luggage so she wasn't in the best frame of mind. Her opponent Roxxi was great (personally I thought she was more attractive) and she autographed a photo for me for John Pratt. One more thing, I have no desire to see the video or any photos. The memory is good enough for me.
The other part of the weekend was spent watching the Phantoms, seeing them get a couple of wins and catching up with an old friend who is the voice of the Providence Bruins. He brought a couple of autographed items from the Boston Bruins for the charity auction too. It was nice to go my seats in Section P and some of other people in section were glad to see me back wondering where I'd been. By default you become sort of a disfunctional family when you sit a certain section year round.
On to other things. After Bristol Tech sideline reporter Erin Andrews went through all the embarrassment of having her body and privacy violated by some peeping tom perv taking naked photos of her, what does she do? She goes on "Dancing with the Stars" as a contestant. How does that help in trying to have people take you seriously as a reporter and not just as eye candy with a microphone?
I've admitted to having a secret crush on Fox News' Megyn Kelly. Well I'm taking the crush back. She's a former lawyer and she does a feature on her show called, "Kelly's Court." I watched the other day and she was debating a case with two other female attorney's who both also happened to be attractive. I'll describe what I saw this way. It's prosecuting attorney Barbie with her friends public defender Stacie and general council Skipper.
While we're on the topic of lawyers, Lindsay Lohan is suing E-Trade over a commercial that has a little girl in it who is accused of being a milk-a-holic. The girl is named Lindsay. Her spokesman says the commercial is mocking her. You've got to be kidding me? I saw the commercial while watching parts of the Caps/Blackhawks game on NBC and it was a whole lot funnier now this lawsuit and cease and desist order has been issued.
Did anyone see "How I Met Your Mother" 2 weeks ago with Carrie Underwood? She played a pharmaceutical company rep in it. Barney, being Barney explained that all pharm rep girls were hot. So I went to a credible source, my sister Kelly who happens to be a pharmacist and asked her. Are drug company rep girls hot? She brought up one of her sorority sisters who is a pharm co rep and I've met before. This Greenhouse Effect investigation came to the conclusion that the answer is yes.
Last but not least, one of my favorite events is coming up this Sunday. Bowl for Kids Sake. Still need to raise some more money for team CKM. So come on and help me out. Hope to see you there Sunday at Spare Time in South Glens Falls.
All these positive vibes and this good karma has made me forget how p----d off I am at our beloved Warren County for the summons I got in the mail to report for jury duty in the near future. Oops!...Leccese out.

Hangin' with Hacksaw and other thoughts

Hi there. O.K. Here's all you need to know about the Oscars last night if you didn't watch or just didn't care like I did. "The Hurt Locker" took home a bunch of awards. Sandra Bullock won and not for her performances in "The Proposal" or "All about Steve." Finally "Avatar" did not do as well as we thought it would.
Friday night I will be in Fort Edward at the "March Mayhem" wrestling event helping "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan as his manager. I'm really looking forward to meeting Jim, having some fun and help raise money for the Booster Club there. Think about this for just a minute, people in my age group who grew up watching wrestling on TV and who know who you are; if you got the chance to do this, you'd be crazy to pass this opportunity up. As long I don't have to actually get in the ring and throw a punch or do some MMA stuff I'll be fine.
Speaking of raising money, Bowl for Kids Sake is in 2 weeks and Team CKM is ready and is raising the dollars. So when I start asking for donations on the air, don't hesitate to call in and help me raise some Benjamins.
Props going out to the South High Marathon Dance Kids who raised over 283,000 dollars this year. Wow!!!
I know people are calling for Governor David Patterson to resign, but honestly is there anybody out there who could do a better job til election day? And who would want the job with the financial mess the state is in and the complete ineptness of the legislature to get anything done.
The NFL free agency period has begun, and the J-E-T-S made a minor splash by trading Kerry Rhodes and acquiring Antonio Cromartie from the Chargers. You got to love Cromartie. This guy has fathered 7 kids with 5 different women. Who'd he get parenting advice from, Shawn Kemp? There are NBA players out there who are jealous of this guy. Also Jets team owner Woody Johnson had to give him a half million dollar advance so he could get his child support payments up to date.
Ben Roethlisberger is more and more becoming just one plain stupid individual.
Selection Sunday is coming and so called experts are telling us that if Siena doesn't win the MAAC championship game, despite there 26-6 record they may not get in. However 12 loss uber conference teams will get an at large bid. There is also talk of the tournament expanding to 98 teams. I have one question. Why? Teams that have 10 or more losses who don't win their post season conference tournament don't deserve to get in.
Planted tomato seeds yesterday.
Finally, Friday night I go to my car which has been parked in the Burger King parking lot since 11:30 to put my briefcase in, then walk down to the Civic Center to watch the hockey game. The Mensa society parking lot attendant comes over to me and tells me to either pay the $5.00 to leave my car which has been there since before noon or move my car. I find it ironic that on those nights when there isn't a sell out or it was -2 outside nobody said anything to me about paying $5.00 or told me to move my vehicle. Lets just say I did move my car and drove it straight home and missed the game. What a joke...Leccese out.
